Meet [Another] Richardson Family!

main image

Meet the Richardson Family: Clay & Hayley and their children Tori (3rd grade), Nolan (1st grade) and Ethan (4yrs). During the week Clay and Hayley work very diligently to keep their three children alive and healthy; and in his spare time, Clay works as a multi-family developer for Wood Partners. For the last decade, Clay & Hayley have served in Gospel Acres teaching the 2nd & 3rd grade class! As a family they prefer to spend time out of doors (except for sleeping). Clay enjoys hunting big game, outdoor cooking, and golf. Hayley likes to read, travel and experiment with food. The "precocious reader", "meticulous creator" and "hurricane+tornado" in the house (we'll let you guess which epithet goes with which child) enjoy spending their parents' money and breaking things in the house that they conveniently forget to tell their parents about.

3 Ways to Use Your Gifts to Serve the Church

main image

Rich's message on Sunday had quite a few ways to apply what was preached, so we thought an additional "Walk It Out Wednesday" (... on Friday...) post would be helpful!

Here are 3 categories + many ideas of how you can use your gifts to serve the local church:

1. Sunday Mornings
  • Do you like to teach? We need teachers in Children's Ministry.
  • Do you like to pray and exhort? Consider joining the prayer team.
  • Are you good with computers? Consider joining the visuals team or the help desk team.
  • Do you enjoy fellowship and making people feel welcome? Consider joining the greeting team.
  • Do you have a heart for mercy and helping others? Consider serving on the Special Needs team in Children's Ministry.
  • Do you feel gifted in prophecy and words of encouragement? Consider sharing from the prophecy mic on a Sunday morning.

2. During the Week
  • Do you like organization and administration? Consider volunteering at the office.
  • Do you want to extend mercy and care? Consider visiting shut-ins or joining the team that cares for people enduring hospital stays.
  • Do you like to teach? Consider serving in Student Ministries and discipling and teaching the youth in our church.
  • Do you feel gifted with generous giving? Talk to Steve Tong about our benevolence fund and financial assistance.

3. On Your Own
  • Do you feel gifted in creativity and artistry? Talk to Jessica Daniels about Children's Ministry and VBS needs for backdrops and classroom designs.
  • Do you feel gifted in hospitality? Perhaps your small group needs a place to meet... Or just start inviting people over for a meal, or to watch the game, or to play games together, or for lunch after church!  There are also occasionally young singles in SovGraceU who are looking to rent a room and live with a family - maybe you could open your home to them?
  • Do you feel gifted in leadership? There may be a serving team in need of direction and someone to take it on and lead it well. Or an area of ministry that needs intentional, gracious oversight.
